Audit Logs

The Audit Logs section is a read-only history of significant actions performed within the Admin Panel, specifically those related to report management and other sensitive operations.

This section is accessible to Admin-level users only and provides visibility into what changes were made, when, and by whom.

πŸ“‹ Table Columns Overview

ColumnDescription
Date and TimeExact timestamp of the recorded action (auto-sorted newest-first by default).
UserThe name of the Admin or Dispatch user who performed the action.
Report IDInternal ID of the report affected by the action (clickable if linking is supported).
ActionThe type of event logged β€” e.g., Report Deleted, Status Changed, etc.
DetailsAny optional metadata (currently unused in this view, but may be expanded later).

πŸ” Search and Filter Capabilities

At the top of the panel:

  • Search Logs: Free-text search by user name, action type, or report ID.
  • Filter by Action: Dropdown to limit results to specific event types (e.g., only deletions, edits, etc.).

These tools help Admins quickly locate key actions during audits or internal reviews.

πŸ“Œ Common Use Cases

  • Tracking Deletions: Understand which Admin removed reports, and at what time.
  • User Accountability: Ensure only authorized users are taking critical actions.
  • Internal Review Support: Provide time-stamped logs for supervisors or investigators.
  • Error Recovery: If a report is mistakenly deleted, this log can help identify the user for follow-up.

πŸ›‘ Important Notes

  • Audit logs cannot be modified or deleted β€” this ensures they are reliable for oversight purposes.
  • Only Admins can access this view; Dispatch and Editor roles cannot see or search audit logs.
  • As the system expands, new event types (e.g., news publishing, user creation) may be added to this section.

βœ… Best Practices

  • Review regularly as part of system audits or quality assurance checks.
  • Investigate any patterns of bulk deletions or rapid changes.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch leads if unusual activity is observed.
  • Encourage responsible use of destructive actions like β€œDelete Report.”
